How to Confirm that a Field Unit is Receiving Data from a Pulse Flow Meter or a Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge

Observant Support

Created: ; updated: .

Prior to the introduction of the Observant C3 and Solo, it was difficult to perform onsite testing of a flow meter or rain gauge because the field unit would only light its port indicator when a pulse was active. Since those pulses are extremely quick,  it was almost impossible to see them while watching the port indicator.

Today, the input port's LED indicator:

  • Will start flashing as soon as the C3 sees a pulse on its input.
  • Will continue flashing for 3 seconds after the last pulse is seen.

This makes onsite troubleshooting and installation testing much simpler and allows testing even when you don't have access to the Observant Global™ software platform at the monitoring site.
